Love Thy Neighbor

Last time we were home was for the Thanks Giving. It snowed tons since.
80 inches of snow in three months.

The young man who shoveled our drive way, walkway and entrance for last few years has gone off to the college. And we had failed to arrange for his replacement.

So, when we left for our 1300 miles journey from comfortably warm south, besides icy cold temperatures, we were worried about heap of snow blocking our garage door and the entrance. And also, we were afraid of sheet of ice underneath that white wonder and rocky ice dumped by the city trucks along the edge of our drive way entrance.

Thinking we will have to call for professional help to break the ice and icy rocks, we prepared ourselves to stay in a hotel for a night or two ( hoping friends will not find out).

Tired and worried we turned in to our cul de sac. What we saw was not the end of our journey, but end to our worries. The drive way to our surprise was completely clean to the concrete. No snow. No ice or icy rocks. It just was bitterly cold. But the act of kindness of our neighbors Barbara and Phil warmed our hearts.

" All we wanted was for you to come home safely and stay safe. We have not done anything a good neighbor would not do."

What a country ! We are blessed...
