One
can not be insensitive to pain and sufferings inflicted upon humans by
poverty. However, those considering themselves blessed enough to be
spared from this disease, over time, become so conditioned to the
ravages of poverty around them, they simply choose not to see it;
subconsciously.
Living in relatively less developed areas of America for last couple of years, I have come to realize the impact of such conditioning. In a country of abundance, poverty seems less tolerable; compared to poverty in relatively developing or under developed countries.
And I write this not to dilute pain and sufferings of a single human.
